The University of Central Florida is one of the most dynamic universities in the country. Offering 225 degree programs, it has become an academic and research leader in numerous fields, such as optics, modeling and simulation, engineering and computer science, business administration, education, science, hospitality management and digital media. UCFs 1,415-acre main campus provides modern facilities, most of which have wireless abilities, with 600 acres set aside for lakes, woods and an arboretum.

UCF now has 12 colleges. More than 53,000 students attend classes on UCF's main campus and its 11 regional campuses located throughout Central Florida. The UCF Libraries offer more than 1.9 million volumes. UCF has an 85,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Center complete with a three-story climbing wall, an indoor track and fitness equipment. A new Health Center is a full-service health clinic with on-site professionals, X-ray capabilities, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory and physical therapy services. The 10,000-seat UCF Arena and a 45,000-seat on-campus football stadium were opened in Fall 2007. Housing includes on-campus residence halls and affiliated apartments for more than 10,000 students.

Plexus Student Centre UCF promotes a diverse and inclusive environment. UCF students come from 50 states and 141 countries. In 2007-08, UCF professors received $122.8 million in research funding. Undergraduate Research offers different research programs, including paid research positions for students.

Studying in Leiden

Students in Leiden can count on personal attention and guidance in both their academic and their personal life. The University provides many services related to studies, student advice and counselling, information services, sports and cultural activities. University Town

Life in Leiden is greatly influenced by the relatively large number of students, as most of them both live and study in the historic town of Leiden. It is very easy to run into someone you know when you go shopping or when you go out at night. Since Leiden is a small town, all the university buildings  are within walking or cycling distance.  Students tend to feel at home quickly, because of the safe environment and the individual approach.

Leiden is located just eight miles east from the North Sea coast, in between the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht.  The Hague can be reached by train in 12 minutes, Schiphol Airport in 20 and Amsterdam in 45 minutes.

Plexus Student CentreAt Plexus student centre you can find study areas, computer facilities, a fitness centre and a cafeteria; the centre is also home to the student counsellors and advisers, an ombudsman and a wide range of student societies. Plexus is close to the heart of the University, the academic building, and is an ideal place to meet up with other students. 

Study Facilities

Computer FacilitiesRegistered students can use all the library facilities, including the University Central Library and the faculty or departmental libraries.  Internet access is available in the various computer rooms and study areas

As a Leiden student, you have access to the University Leiden Community Network (ULCN), which includes an email account where you will receive emails about your class changes or general University matters and news. After registration, you have access to this network with your "U-account" that you will receive with your Student ID.

Study Support & Activities

Study AdviceFor matters regarding admission and final course enrolment, you can contact the Study Abroad Coordinator or your Exchange Coordinator at the International Office. You can sign up for workshops and individual counselling from the international counsellor or drop by the international student adviser for matters related to finding your way in the University and activities for international students. It is also possible to join one of the many study associations for study-related activities.

Student Life

Students in LeidenLeiden is a typical student town and has a rich student life, including many cultural activities & things to do. The University sport centre offers various outdoor and indoor facilities and classes. International Student Societies also offer social activities both for international and Dutch students. Many students are a member of a students association. International students can also opt for a Leiden student mentor.
