1) Taiwan Scholarship

The Taiwan Scholarship, provided jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is mainly granted to students pursuing an academic degree program in Taiwan. If students require additional training in Mandarin before their academic program begins, the scholarship may also provide for up to one year of training at a recognized language center at any university in Taiwan. Recipients are awarded between NT$25,000~30,000 (US$783～940) per month.

2) Democratic Pacific Union (DPU) Graduate Scholarship

It is funded by Democratic Pacific Union. Recipients are awarded NTD 30,000元 (US$940) per month ( tuition fee and living expense included). The award period is maximum 2 years for graduate students and maximum 3 years for Ph.D. candidates.

3) Freshman Scholarship for International Students, NTNU

In order to promote the program of “Elite Study in Taiwan”, conducted by the Taiwan’s government, the “Freshman Scholarship for International Students, NTNU” is specifically set and funded by NTNU to attract more international students with academic excellence to study degree programs in this university as well as to promote globalization.

Applicant Eligibility:
Freshman international students who are admitted to and enrolled in degree programs by departments/ graduate institutes in NTNU and are not sponsored by other scholarships.?

Amount:
Undergraduate students: NTD 10, 000 per month; NTD 100, 000 in total.
Postgraduate students: NTD 15, 000 per month; NTD 150, 000 in total.

Award Period:
It is granted monthly for 10 months. In the event that the scholarship recipient does not enroll in any degree program, discontinues his/her studies, or has a record of personal misconduct, funding will be terminated.

Application Procedures:
Applicants must complete an application form and send it with other required documents to the university admissions when applying for degree programs.

Screening Procedure:
Departments/ graduate institutes will screen the candidates, choose the most qualified one/ones to be awarded, and send the list of recipients together with the application forms and other documents to the Office of International Affairs to issue the scholarship.

4) NTNU Scholarship for International Students

To encourage and reward excellent international students , NTNU has established the “Scholarship for International Students”.

Amount & Award Period:
NTD 10,000（US$313）per recipient per month; granted twice a year (January- June; July- December).

Application Requirements:
1) Undergraduate students:
The student should earn at least 16 credits each semester, his/her grade point average (GPA) from the previous semester should be above 70% (B), and there is no record of personal misconduct.
2) Graduate students:
The student should take at least one course each semester, his/her grade point average from the previous semester should be above 80 , or his/her research project should be recommended by his/her academic advisor ( this privilege can apply only once ) and there is no record of personal misconduct.

Application Procedures:
The application is open twice a year, and should be submitted to the applicant’s department/ graduate institute within the first two weeks of the semester. In addition to the application form, applicants must submit a copy of the transcript from the previous semester, and a letter documenting that he/she has not received any other NTNU scholarship.

5)NTNU Scholarship for Students Recommended by Partner Universities

In order to enhance the collaboration between NTNU and the partner universities, NTNU established a scholarship for students who are recommended by partner universities and meanwhile admitted to NTNU degree programs. The granted amount for excellent students from partner universities is NTD 220, 000 in total for the period of two years. During March and April each year, more details will be announced and partner universities will be informed. Applicants should be nominated by the Office of International Affairs at our contracted partner universities. Individual application will not be processed.
