What is the MTCAA?
The MTCAA is an organization designed primarily to help "graduates"
of the Mandarin Training Center to keep in contact with one another.
As former students of the MTC ourselves, originally we had started
talking about forming an alumni association for the MTC in 1994. At
this stage it was fully supported by the director of the MTC, Professor
Yeh Te-ming, and we were left to organize the specific details ourselves.
At that time, comparatively few people had access to e-mail, and all we
had was access to a database list of all MTC students since 1985. It
is only in the past few months that we have been trying to get ahold of
contact details solely on the internet, which is a much faster and
more effecient way of keeping in touch. Over the next few months we
hope that a large number of former students will express interest and
sign up.
We hope that by establishing an alumni association, many people will be
able to get in touch with classmates and friends from the MTC. In the
future, we hope that alumni will be willing to organize events--suppers,
parties, or whatever--in several cities around the world so that old
friends can meet up again and new ones made.
