PROGRAM OVERVIEW |
The Graduate Institute of International
Sinology Studies provides a limited number
of highly qualified graduate students with
the opportunity to pursue M.A. degree.
Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural
academic training is the most significant
characteristics of the program. The program
encompasses faculty who teach and conduct
research on four different sinological
traditions―Chinese,
Japanese, European, and American. The
diverse faculty is united in its commitment
to excellence in the study of sinology
studies from various methodological and
critical perspectives. In addition to
obtaining training in philosophy, history,
linguistics, and literature, students in the
program are exposed to various trends in
sinology studies from Jesuit missionaries in
the 16th century to postmodern theorists in
the 21st century. In the completion of the
program, graduates are expected to have
sufficient knowledge about not only their
major fields but also indigenous and modern
critical discourse. The program maintains
ties with other institutions, both in Taiwan
and abroad, that further graduate study. |
