The undergraduate program of the Department was established in 1957, with two major goals: to prepare health education teachers for secondary schools, and to develop the teaching skills of public health educators.

The courses offered in the undergraduate program are distributed in three areas:

school health education, public health education, and health education curriculum. Various research projects on topics of health education curriculum and school health are carried out cooperatively with institutions concerned.

The master and doctoral programs were established in 1980 and 1993 respectively, for the following goals:

 1. to prepare health education teachers for universities and colleges,

 2. to train professional health education researchers, and

 3. to train public health education administrators.

  Department of Home Economics Education

The Department has four curricular foci, which are interrelated elements for the well-being of an individual and his/her family. The four curricula include home economics education, family and young children, foods and nutrition, and textiles and clothing. Because the goal of the curricula is to set for practicum, a restaurant, a household, a preschool center, handicrafts workshops, nutrition laboratories, and cooperative secondary schools are established facilities where students apply their classroom learning.

Both undergraduate and graduate programs are offered.

To provide education for industrial educators and practical engineers is the future goal of the Department after the new Teacher Preparation Law is enforced.

Department of Information & Computer Education

The Department was established in 1985, with the master program started in 1991, and the Ph.D. program in 1997.

The undergraduate program is computer science oriented. Undergraduate students who are interested in becoming secondary school teachers can take teacher qualification courses in the university.

The graduate (the master and the doctoral ) program has two concentrations. One is computer science, focusing research on image processing, algorithms, computer vision, and parallel processing. The other is computer science education, focusing research on the teaching and learning of computer knowledge and skills. Research in computer-assisted learning/teaching is also one of the concentrations.

The Department is looking forward to becoming an institute that can apply computer network to education properly. http://www.ice.ntnu.edu.tw/
