Communication to build common understanding and a common vision”G
The prerequisite for a common vision is common understanding. We have to meet each other and gradually reduce the gaps that separate us. Helpful measures include”Gfinding a format to introduce the academic strengths and interests of NTNU College of Education faculty”Fholding interdepartmental social activities, including faculty from graduate institutes. Once we know each other better, we can move on to discuss issues of common concern and gradually from a common vision.
Raise academic standing and the quality of research”G
Do as much as possible to facilitate the academic research of colleagues and faculty”F support various kinds of academic discussions, symposiums, and conferences at all levels, from departmental, interdepartmental, and school-wide to cross-Strait and international activities. These efforts will create an environment for scholarly interaction and inquiry.
Participate in administrative planning and reorganize this College”G
We have two goals”G to seek excellence in research, and to enhance the competitiveness of the teachers we are training. A reorganization of this College is a starting point for a transformation not only of National Taiwan Normal University but also of teacher training institutions around the nation.
Strive for resources and influence national educational policy with visionary educational approaches”G
Be vocal about the nation”¦s major educational policies”F encourage colleagues to participate in national educational reform activities”F and influence society directly by planning and executing service programs, whereby students and teachers can get involved in society, for example by working at non-profit organizations.
