Q1. Please define "international students."
A1-1. International students here refer to those students who have neither overseas-Chinese status, nor ROC citizenship.
A1-2. Individuals who do not have ROC citizenship and have not received assistance from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission for placement into a school, but have a diploma from a foreign senior high school (or above) can also apply to NTNU for an entrance.
Q2. What qualifications are required for acceptance into NTNU?
A2-1. International students who possess a senior high school diploma can apply for a place in the university's undergraduate programs. Individuals with a bachelor's degree can apply for acceptance into the university's master’s programs. Individuals who possess a master's degree can apply for acceptance into the university's doctoral programs.
A2-2. Other details and conditions regarding student qualifications are specified in the University's General Regulations of Enrollment.
Q3. When and how do I apply?
A3-1. The Prospectus for International Students is available from early February each year. You can download it from the Admission Division’s website at http://www.ntnu.edu.tw/aa/aa4/aa4.html or buy it at the Admission Division’s Office located in the Administration Building on the University's main campus.
A3-2. Applications are accepted from March 1 to late April each year. Actual dates may vary and will be specified on the yearly Prospectus.
A3-3. Please either mail or bring your application materials to the Admission Division’s Office. (162, Hoping E. Rd., Sec. 1, Taipei 106, Taiwan, ROC)
A3-4. Required application materials are as follows—
a. Two copies of completed application form (Passport-size photos must be attached)
b. A photocopy of your passport
c. A photocopy of highest education diploma AND, if required, notarized translations (in English or in Chinese)
d. Official school transcripts from highest level school (in English or in Chinese)
e. Two letters of recommendation (including one from a Chinese teacher who taught you Chinese)
f. A health certificate issued within the last 6 months (including HIV test results)
g. A study plan (either in Chinese or English)
h. A financial statement issued by a bank
i. Two self-addressed envelopes
j. Any other requirements by individual department/graduate
A3-5. Application fees for the past academic year are listed as follows.
a. NT$1,200 (about US$50) for undergraduate programs
b. NT$1,500 (about US$60) for master’s programs
c. NT$3,000 (about US$120) for PhD programs.
An additional NT$2,000 (about US$70) is required for anyone who needs to have a craftsmanship examination.

Q5. When are the entrance examinations for international students?
A5. The entrance examination for foreign students is usually held in early June. Actual dates may vary.
Q6. When do semesters begin?
A6. Every academic year here has two semesters. The first semester begins in mid-September and the second semester in mid-February.
Q7. How much do tuition fees, food, and accommodations cost per semester?

A7-2. The monthly cost of food per person is about NT$6,000 (US$182).
A7-3. Accommodation fees: The average cost for renting a room around the campus ranges from NT$4,000 to NT$7,000 (about US$122-213) per month. Q8. How do I become a non-degree student?
A8. International students who possess an ROC residence visa can apply with the university to register as a non-degree student. The deadline of application for the first semester is June 30; the deadline for the second semester is December 15. Q9. How do I apply to become a student in your Chinese Language classes?
